Mr. Carlson grew up on the central coast and attended Lucia Mar schools.

After graduating from Arroyo Grande High School, he traveled much before returning to enroll at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. 

Mr. Carlson earned a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Technical Communication.

Some of the activities Mr. Carlson enjoys are playing basketball, tennis, and pickleball.  Mr. Carlson also surfs and enjoys stand up paddle boarding.  He plays the guitar and can often be seen riding his bicycle to local parks and the beach to go for walks and to play wiffle ball with his daughter.

Mr. Carlson lives with his daughter who attends elementary school.  They have two cats named Pig and Buddy.

Most of what you need to know about Mr. Carlson's Language Arts class can be found in the "Course Description" and on the "Academic Calendar."  Both are posted below and within Google Classroom under the "Useful Resources" section.  You will learn more about classroom routines and procedures, as well as teacher expectations as you attend class and are an active participant in daily lessons and activities.

In general, Mr. Carlson believes in developing positive rapport and mutual respect with students.  His hope is that--together--they can build a pleasant classroom culture and an enjoyable learning environment.

Students should come to class with a positive attitude, be prepared to learn, and bring with them all the necessary school materials.
